On this second part we will be discussing about how to store your digitized photos.

Here are the steps:

  1. Select the file type that you will be using. There are two file format options that you can choose from.
    1. When you want the best quality in scanning and storing picture you better us the Tagged Image Format or TIF.
    2. Another option is the JPG or JPEG file format which is also good because it has a compression algorithm that enables it to create smaller file sizes, thus making it the most popular photo format used in web pages and file sharing.
  2. Save a copy of the original photo in TIF format. You can place it in a special folder on your computer hard drive or save it in a CD or in another digital medium, like a flash drive. This is intended to preserve the original look of the photo in a digital format.
  3. Create a copy of the scanned photo. In order for you to start manipulating or editing your photo. Create a copy of the scanned photo and save it using a different file name. This file name will remind you that you are working on the copy and not the original digital copy.
